Red Wolf Stands Guard in NC State Engineering Quad

The NC State Engineering Foundation Inc. sponsored “Alloy,” one of the wolves in the Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble project. Alloy is on the prowl between Riddick Labs and Mann Hall.

“Alloy,” the artwork that represents the College of Engineering at NC State University in the Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble project, will have a permanent home in the Engineering quad on campus. The statue is one of more than 100 fiberglass wolves that make up the Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble, a public art display across the City of Raleigh.

Approximately 47 of the other wolves from the art project were auctioned April 5, 2002.

The 400-lb. Alloy wolf was created by two NC State students, Carson Mataxis, a senior in the College of Design, and Summer Hill, an industrial design junior, participants who were selected by the City of Raleigh Arts Commission. The Engineering wolf is sponsored by the NC State Engineering Foundation Inc.

Alloy is located in the grassy area between Riddick Laboratories and Mann Hall on NC State’s north campus.
