Tang of T. Y. Lin International to Give Lecture at NC State October 13

The Constructed Facilities Laboratory in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering will host a lecture by Dr. Man-Chung Tang, Chairman of the Board for T. Y. Lin International, Friday, October 13, at 10 a.m. in Room 216, Mann Hall, on the campus of NC State University. The lecture is entitled, "An Overview of Bridge Construction in China Today."

Tang, a world-renowned bridge engineer, has been responsible for the design and construction of well over 100 major bridges worldwide in the past 35 years — 6 of them world records at the time of completion. His bridges have received many awards, including the National Society of Professional Engineer's Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award, the American Society of Civil Engineer's Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award, PCA's Award of Excellence and the National Endowment for the Arts’ Federal Design Achievement Award.

China is undertaking an infrastructure development program of unprecedented scale. As part of this undertaking, many major bridges are being built in different parts of China. Tang has been a consultant on many of these new projects.
