October Pride of the Wolfpack Award Winners Announced

October "Pride of the Wolfpack Award" winners in the College of Engineering are Cynthia Braggs, Shirley Kow, Barbara Rowe, Brian Sherman, Wendy So, Dr. John Strenkowski, Rajani Verghese, Dr. Mladen Vouk and Sharon Wright.

As assistant to the director of the Industrial Extension Service, Braggs not only supports the director of sales but serves as the communication hub for all the account managers.

Kow, system administrator for the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, consistently provides first-rate computer and network support.

Rowe, administrative officer for the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, kept morale high and the department running when several key staff members left the department for advanced positions within the university.

Nine months ago Sherman joined the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) as a senior ergonomist. In that short time he has demonstrated strong leadership ability and equally strong technical and interpersonal skills.

A bookkeeper in the Dean’s Office, So has an extraordinary team attitude. Recently, when an associate was having difficulty accessing the new IDT system, So took over the associate’s IDT data entry until the access problem was resolved.

Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and associate dean of research and graduate programs, Strenkowski served as assistant dean for research through October 2006. He is widely respected by the research administration staff for his great demeanor and encouraging support.

Verghese, who is the university administrative manager for the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has done a superb job of juggling many special projects during the last month with grace and a spirit of helpfulness.

Vouk, professor of computer science, associate vice provost for information technology and head of computer science (CSC), instituted the CSC Directors Committee that has improved department operation by enabling the directors of various programs and their staff to meet monthly to discuss departmental issues.

As the new contract manager for ISE’s Ergonomics Center, Wright has demonstrated enthusiasm in fostering relationships with the other center employees and has gone out of her way to understand the center’s processes, unique needs and challenges.
