The Science Teachers’ Workshop on Nuclear Science Applications, sponsored by the Department of Nuclear Engineering at NC State University, was held Friday, March 7, 2003, in Burlington Nuclear Engineering Laboratories. Dr. Mohamed A. Bourham, professor of nuclear engineering and program director, noted that the second annual workshop for middle and high school teachers was a great success. Topics on radiation sources, nuclear reactions and radiation detection and biological effects were discussed. Graduate students and professional staff facilitated the afternoon laboratory and tour sessions. Thirty-three educators received practical instruction on how to introduce nuclear engineering topics into their classroom teaching. Support for the workshop was provided by the American Nuclear Society.
