NC State Engineer Contributes Expertise to NRC Report on EPA Changes

  — Dr. Christopher Frey is available to discuss the National Research Council report and changes in EPA policy

Dr. Christopher Frey, professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering at North Carolina State University, served on the National Academies’ National Research Council (NRC) committee that studied the changes in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency policies concerning new source review. The committee, which included experts in environmental sciences, health, law and economics, was convened by Congress and charged with determining the possible effects of the policy changes that are part of the Clean Air Act that governs large, stationary sources of air pollution such as factories and power plants.

Frey, who is recognized as a leader in pollution control, emissions sources and systems analysis, was selected to serve on the committee from its inception in 2004. He received his Ph.D. in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University in 1991 and joined the NC State faculty in 1994.

A summary of the report is available at http://books.nap.edu/catalog/11701.html.

Frey is available to the media to discuss the committee’s findings and other pollution and emission control issues.
