The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University will host its end-of-semester Senior Design Day Thursday, April 27, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Jane S. McKimmon Center on the NC State campus.

The media and public are invited to attend this event   in which 100 electrical and computer engineering students will showcase projects from their senior design project course. Project topics include robotics, cellular/wireless communications, aids for disabled children and many other student innovations.

Of particular interest are two robotic projects. A student team entry in the IEEE SoutheastCon 2006 hardware design competition will be on display. The robot is a completely autonomous vehicle that sorts packages and loads them into planes unaided by human intervention. Another team is building a next-generation autonomous underwater vehicle for a national contest in San Diego this year. With experience garnered from last year’s contest, the team is developing a completely new vehicle and will have components on display at the McKimmon Center on April 27.
