Sherwood Keith Boswell has been named Director of Information Technology for the College of Engineering. In this position, he heads the Office of Information Technology and Engineering Computer Services (ITECS).
His appointment, effective July 1, 2005, was announced by Dr. Thomas K. Miller III, professor of electrical and computer engineering and vice provost for distance education and learning technology, following approval by the NC State University Board of Trustees. Boswell succeeds William G. Scott Jr., who has served as director since 2000.
Following his service as an information technology and communications officer in the United States Army, Boswell joined NC State University as an information technology manager for the Industrial Extension Service in the College of Engineering. For the past eight years Boswell has held information technology management positions at the university level. Most recently he served as client services manager for Network and Client Services.
