Dr. Ana I. Antón, assistant professor of software engineering at North Carolina State University, was named a Computing Research Association (CRA) Digital Government Fellow in January 2002.  The Fellows program, supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), fosters collaboration between the governmental and academic or industrial computing research communities.

As part of her fellowship, Antón gave a public lecture entitled “Crossed Signals:  Internet Privacy Policies and User Concerns” at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., on March 12.  Her talk provided an overview of the privacy policy analysis research conducted by several researchers at ThePrivacyPlace.org.

Antón’s research focuses on methods and tools to support the specification of complete, correct behavior of software systems used in environments that pose risks of loss as a consequence of failures and misuse.  She is the founder and director of ThePrivacyPlace.org.

She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in information and computer science in 1990 and 1992, respectively, and her doctorate in computer science in 1997, all from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
