Progress Energy Foundation has awarded a grant to North Carolina State University. Of the $385,000 awarded this year, $230,000 will go to the College of Engineering. A large portion of the grant is designated for programs in the Department of Nuclear Engineering.
Progress Energy has shown strong support of NC State and the College of Engineering over the years. This year the grant will support programs in civil engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering and nuclear engineering. In addition, funding for collegewide programs, such as Benjamin Franklin Scholars, minority scholarships and K-12 outreach programs, is provided by the grant.
Dean Nino A. Masnari said, “We greatly appreciate the long history of support Progress Energy has shown the College of Engineering. This support will greatly enhance current programs and new opportunities within the College.”
The donation will be administered by the NC State Engineering Foundation, Inc.
