The Goodrich Corporation has given $50,000 to the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. The gift goes to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering to establish a Goodrich Doctoral Fellowship program in the area of structural health monitoring, to create an endowed Goodrich Faculty Research Award and to support an undergraduate research intern. The establishment of the graduate fellowship is part of Goodrich’s participation in the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA). It is the first multi-year industrial graduate fellowship in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the first industry-sponsored doctoral fellowship program in the NIA. The fellowship program will promote a strong research partnership among NASA Langley Research Center, NIA and NC State in the area of structural health monitoring.

Jerry Lee, vice president of technology and innovation for the Goodrich Corporation, presented the gift to the College of Engineering October 6.

Dean Nino A. Masnari said, "We greatly appreciate the support that Goodrich has shown the College of Engineering. This gift will enhance current programs and create new opportunities for our students and faculty within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.”

Goodrich offers a broad range of advanced systems, products and services for the aerospace and defense industry.
