BASF greet students Michael Foote, Kevin Anderson and Stephanie Menser.
The BASF Corporation has given $25,000 — part of a $125,000 pledge — to the Department of Chemical Engineering Riddick Renovation Fund in the College of Engineering at NC State University. This gift supports the renovation of the BASF Lecture Hall in Riddick Engineering Laboratories. In addition, BASF established the BASF Scholarship Fund, which provides an annual scholarship to one outstanding and active student from each of the following student organizations: American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSOBE), and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). BASF also made contributions to each of these student groups as well as an unrestricted gift to the Department of Chemical Engineering.
L. Clarence Batts, Jr. (ChE ’70), site manager of the BASF plant in Whitestone, S.C., presented the gift to the college October 17.
Dr. Nino A. Masnari, dean of engineering, said, “This commitment by BASF is an investment in tomorrow’s engineers. Through their continued support of the College of Engineering, and particularly the Department of Chemical Engineering, BASF is supporting the educational activities of some of the brightest young people in the nation.”
