S. Frank and Doris Culberson have pledged an additional $80,000 to the College of Engineering to increase the S. Frank and Doris Culberson Academic Enhancement Fund. When fulfilled, their total giving to the Achieve! campaign will exceed $300,000.
In addition, the College of Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering have announced the naming of the S. Frank Culberson Lecture Hall in the newly constructed Engineering Building I on Centennial Campus.
Culberson, who was named a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus in 2002, is president and CEO of Rimkus Consulting Group. A 1960 chemical engineering graduate, Culberson began his career at Shell Oil Company and Shell Chemical Company in Deer Park, Texas. He earned an MBA from the University of Houston in 1966. Since Culberson joined Rimkus Consulting Group in 1987 as a senior vice president, director and one of the founding shareholders, the company has grown from a small firm with eight employees to its current size of more than 300 employees in 18 offices. Culberson is one of the College of Engineering co-chairs for the Achieve! campaign.
“We greatly appreciate the support that the Culbersons have shown the College of Engineering over the years,” said Dr. Nino A. Masnari, dean of the College of Engineering. “This generous commitment is an investment in tomorrow’s engineers.”
The endowment is part of the university's current fund-raising campaign, Achieve! The Campaign for NC State, and will be administered by the NC State Engineering Foundation Inc.
