Dr. Zhang
NC State Materials Science and Engineering student Xinghang Zhang has been announced as the winner of the 2002 American Society of Metals (ASM) International Graduate Student Paper Award for his paper entitled, “Determination of Sources for Stored Enthalpy in Cryomilled Nanocrystalline Zn.”
The award, established in 1985, recognizes the best graduate student technical paper in the field of materials science or engineering with one winner selected each year. Zhang will receive this award, which includes an honorarium of $500, at the ASM Awards Luncheon to be held in October 2002.
Zhang received his B.S in materials science and engineering in 1995 from Jilin University in China, his M.S. in materials science and engineering in 1998 from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from NC State in 2001. Zhang is currently a postdoctoral research associate under Dr. Carl Koch in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
