
Sedlak
Joseph F. Sedlak has been named executive director of the North Carolina Solar Center in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University, effective May 21, 2001. Sedlak will oversee operations of the NC Solar Center, including proposed expansion of the programs and facilities of the center. Sedlak replaces Larry Shirley, who served as executive director since the opening of the center in 1988.
Since 1989 Sedlak has served as director of government relations at Volunteers in Technical Assistance (VITA) in Arlington, Virginia. VITA is an international development organization that sponsors renewable energy programs in developing countries. Previously Sedlak was president of the National Center for Appropriate Technology, an organization committed to transferring renewable energy to low-income Americans. He has extensive experience in nonprofit organization direction.
Sedlak received his B.A. in philosophy from St. Meinrad College in Indiana. He was a high school teacher and administrator in Indiana.
