
Dr. Osburn
Dr. Carlton M. Osburn, professor of electrical and computer engineering at NC State University, has been named director of the Center for Advanced Electronic Materials Processing (AEMP) and director of the Semiconductor Research Corporation/International SEMATECH Front End Process Research Center, effective August 1, 2001. Osburn replaces Dr. John R. Hauser, who has been named interim head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Osburn has been a faculty member at NC State since 1983. Prior to this appointment he was manager of the Fabrication Technology area of the IBM Research Division for 13 years. His research interests include fabrication technologies and device design of deep submicron silicon devices.
He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Electrocehmical Society and Sigma Xi. Osburn is a fellow of the Electrochemical Society and of IEEE.
Osburn received his B.S. in engineering sciences in 1966; his M.S. in aeronautics, astronautics and engineering sciences in 1967; and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1970, all from Purdue University.
