Dr. Jagdish “Jay” Narayan, the John C.C. Fan Family Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and director of the NSF Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Structures, has been selected as the ASM International Edward DeMille Campbell Memorial Lecturer for 2004. The lecture carries a certificate and an honorarium.

Narayan will deliver the lecture entitled “Frontier in Thin Film Growth and Nanostructured Materials” during the ASM International’s Annual Event to be held October 18 through 21 in Columbus, Ohio.

Considered one of the most prestigious awards of the society, the annual lecture was established in 1925 in memory of Edward DeMille Campbell, an honorary member of the American Society for Metals (now ASM International). The lecture honors outstanding achievements in materials science and engineering research and provides an opportunity to inform members of research and developments in the field.
