Masnari Elected ASEE Committee Chair

Dr. Nino A. Masnari, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and dean of the College of Engineering at NC State University, has been elected chair of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Engineering Deans Council (EDC) Public Policy Committee.  

The Public Policy Committee is responsible for organizing the EDC's annual Public Policy Colloquium and for strengthening the discussion of engineering education and research issues between the deans of engineering and key public policymakers.  Masnari's term as chair begins February 18, 2002, and extends to June 2004.  He previously served as chair of the 1999 ASEE's Engineering Deans Institute.

Masnari joined the NC State College of Engineering faculty in 1979 as head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.  He has been dean of the college since 1996.  From 1988 to 1996 he was director of the Center for Advanced Electronic Materials Processing.

Masnari received his bachelor's degree in 1958, his master's in 1959 and his doctorate in 1964, all in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.  A native of Three Rivers, Mich., he is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
