2004-5 Faculty Senior Scholarship Award

Leslie Jimison

Leslie Jimison has shown great stamina during her time at NC State. Not only is she currently holding a 4.0 in materials science and engineering, she has done so while a member of the university’s cross country and track teams.

Leslie already has been inducted into several honor societies, including Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key, and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She has received Robert Byrd, Charles Manning and Ameristeel scholarships and is a Caldwell Fellow. She has been a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a student speaker for the College of Engineering.

This past summer, Leslie was a research assistant for the Thin Film and Ceramics Institute at NC State. After receiving her bachelor’s in materials science and engineering next summer, she plans to pursue a doctorate in the study of polymers or electronics. Ultimately, she would like to return to the college atmosphere as a professor and researcher.

The College of Engineering is fortunate to have such a fine scholar — and talented runner — in our midst, and we are pleased to present Leslie with the Faculty Senior Scholarship award for 2004-05.
