2004-5 Faculty Senior Scholarship Award

Taymour Hammoudi

Taymour Hammoudi is a dedicated student who seems destined for an interesting career in biomedical engineering. He has spent the past two summers engaged in HIV research for GlaxoSmithKline and Duke University while maintaining a 4.0 at NC State.

Taymour’s greatest interest lies in applying engineering disciplines to detect and treat diseases. He plans to pursue a career in biomedical engineering where he can contribute to the field through research in biomaterials, tissue engineering and drug delivery. His ultimate goal is to translate his research findings and knowledge of leading-edge technologies into an improved quality of life for patients.

Taymour is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi and Golden Key honor societies and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He has won Dean’s Merit and Baxter-Allegiance scholarships and is a Caldwell Fellow. He also is a mentor for the NC State Service Learning program and an alumnus of the National Youth Leadership Forum, having attended an international mission on medicine in Australia last summer.

The College of Engineering is fortunate to have such a fine scholar and service-minded individual in our midst, and we are pleased to present Taymour with the Faculty Senior Scholarship award for 2004-05.
