Dr. Richard M. Felder, Hoechst Celanese professor emeritus of chemical engineering at North Carolina State University, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Chemical Engineering Pedagogical Scholarship of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), Chemical Engineering Division. The award will be presented at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition in June 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Felder joined the NC State faculty in 1969. He has won numerous awards for his innovations in teaching, including the Chester F. Carlson Award from ASEE in 1998, the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1997 and the Warren K. Lewis Award for Chemical Engineering Education sponsored by ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company in 2002.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the City College of New York in 1962, his master’s from Princeton University in 1964 and his doctorate from Princeton University in 1966, all in chemical engineering.
