Dr. Nino A. Masnari, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and dean of the College of Engineering at NC State University, has been elected to the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Engineering Deans Council (EDC) Executive Board. The ASEE Engineering Deans Council is the leadership body for deans of engineering at U.S. colleges. It is responsible for representing the engineering colleges and schools in the US in the overall administration of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc. (ABET) accreditation of engineering programs and in facilitating information exchange among engineering institutions.
Masnari's term on the executive board begins June 19, 2002, and extends to 2004. He currently also serves as chair of the ASEE EDC Public Polity Committee and previously served as chair of the 1999 ASEE Engineering Deans Institute.
Masnari joined the NC State College of Engineering faculty in 1979 as head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has served as dean of the college since 1996. From 1988 to 1996 he was director of the Center for Advanced Electronic Materials Processing.
Masnari received his bachelor's, master's and doctorate, all in electrical engineering, from the University of Michigan. A native of Three Rivers, Mich., he is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
