Dr. Buckner
Dr. Gregory D. Buckner, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at NC State University, is the recipient of an American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) New Faculty Research Award, Southeast Section, and a North Carolina State University Outstanding Teacher Award.
The ASEE award is presented to recognize a faculty member with less than six years of teaching or research experience who exemplifies excellence in both research and teaching. Buckner received the award at the ASEE Annual Conference in Gainesville, Florida, April 8, 2002.
Approximately 20 NC State Outstanding Teacher Awards are given each year. Being selected for this award automatically confers membership in the Academy of Outstanding Teachers for as long as the faculty member remains at NC State.
Buckner's research focuses on electromechanics: the design, implementation, analysis and control of electromechanical actuators for engineering applications.
Buckner received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University in 1986, his M.Sc. in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1987 and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. He joined the NC State faculty in 1999.
