Masnari Appointed Vice Chair of the ASEE Engineering Deans Council

Dr. Nino A. Masnari, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and dean of the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been appointed vice chair of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Engineering Deans Council (EDC), to complete the term of current vice chair John Anderson. Masnari’s term will be April 1, 2004, through June 29, 2005. The EDC is the leadership body for deans of engineering at U.S. colleges.

Currently Masnari serves as chair of the EDC Public Policy Committee, with a term of February 2002 through June 2004. The Public Policy Committee is responsible for organizing the EDC’s annual Public Policy Colloquium and for strengthening the discussion of engineering education and research issues between the deans of engineering and key public policymakers.

Masnari joined the faculty at NC State in 1979 as head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has been dean of the College of Engineering since 1996. From 1988 to 1996 he was director of the Center for Advanced Electronic Materials Processing.

Masnari received his bachelor’s degree, master’s and doctorate all in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. A native of Three Rivers, Mich., he is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
