College Presents Senior Awards at Engineers’ Council Banquet

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University announced the Outstanding Senior Awards at the Engineers’ Council annual spring banquet held at the NC State University Club at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

Dr. Nino A. Masnari, dean of the College of Engineering, presented an award in each of four categories: scholarly achievement, citizenship and service, humanities and leadership. In addition, Masnari led the installation of the 2003-04 executive board members of the Engineers’ Council.

The keynote speaker was Quint M. Barefoot, a 1985 graduate of NC State in chemical engineering and an NC State Engineering Foundation board member.

The award for scholarly achievement was won by Catherine Marie Ward, double major in chemical engineering and biochemistry. The award for citizenship and service was given to Sara Carnie McDonald, a chemical engineering major. The humanities award went to Jonathan Kendall Lupton, a double major in computer engineering and history. The leadership award was given to Brian David Phillips, a major in biological engineering.
