Bell, O’Neill and Mayberry Win January Pride of Wolfpack Awards

Gwendolyn (Gwen) H. Bell, Katherine (Kathy) L. Mayberry and Mary E. O’Neill are the first Pride of the Wolfpack Award winners in the College of Engineering.  Recently established and sponsored by university retirement program TIAA-CREF, the award is given to NC State employees to recognize their contributions of leadership, university community service and exceptional service to the college or unit (see related story at http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/news/news_articles/pride.html).

Bell, who is the administrative assistant for the NC State Engineering Foundation, won the Pride of Wolfpack Award because of her exemplary willingness to volunteer to serve on not just one but two college committees this year.  She agreed to serve on the Awards for Excellence committee to provide much-needed continuity from year to year.  She also agreed to act as the college representative for the Pride of Wolfpack Award Program.

Mayberry, coordinator of student-owned computing in Information Technology & Engineering Computer Services, won because her contagious enthusiasm and hard work made her “an important catalyst” in initiating the student-owned computing program in the college.

O’Neill, the budget manager of the Industrial Extension Service (IES), was selected for her leadership in an IES community project.   For two years, O’Neill has organized an annual teddy bear drive as part of the larger drive sponsored by the State Employee’s Association of North Carolina for the NC Highway Patrol, who collects the bears to comfort children at accident scenes (see related story at http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/news/innerviews/marybear.html).

The awardees will each receive a $20.00 gift card, as well as an overnight bag from the College of Enginering.
