Wesley Tucker Mays of Walkertown has been selected to receive an Ernest James and Ethel Hudgins Angelo Scholarship in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. Mays is the eighth recipient of the Angelo scholarship.
William E. Angelo and his brother, the late Dr. E. James Angelo Jr., established the scholarship in memory of their parents. Recipients must be from Forsyth County, demonstrate an interest in the environment and pursue an engineering degree that will give them the opportunity to work to protect the environment.
Mays, who is the son of Susan D. Mays of Walkertown, graduated in May from Carver High School in Winston Salem. He was an honors graduate and a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the Vocational Honor Society, and he was Student of the Year in several fields. A Crosby Scholar, he participated in the Mortarboard Leadership Conference and the Duke Talent Identification Program.
Angelo scholarships, valued at $10,000, provide full tuition, fees and room and board for one year and are renewable.
