The 2nd Annual Mobile Clean Air and Renewable Energy (CARE) Symposium and Awards was hosted at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, NC.  This event was an opportunity to show support of clean air technologies and practices and helping us to recognize exemplary efforts at expanding the use of alternative fuels and advanced transportation technologies in North Carolina.

David Morris, ILSR

Event highlights included Dr. David Morris, Institute for Local Self Reliance (ILSR) providing a keynote luncheon speech. David is a cofounder and Vice President of the ILSR and directs its New Rules Project.  Described by Bill Moyers one of the “nation’s most innovative thinkers”, David is the author of four books, including Self-Reliant Cities, Be Your Own Power Company, and The Carbohydrate Economy.  He has been an advisor or consultant to the energy agencies of Presidents Ford, Carter, Clinton and George W. Bush.  David’s columns have appeared in over 100 newspapers and magazines, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and the Washington Post.  His most recent publication, published in March 2008, is Driving Our Way To Energy Independence

Additionally, presentations were given and posters displayed on the latest research, policies, practices, and technologies.  Participants also took tours of the Proximity Hotel, the Nation's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certified Hotel.
