Mobilizing NC - April 18, 2007

The NC Department of Transportation, NC Division of Air Quality, Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART), the State Energy Office and numerous other organizations sponsored the Mobilizing NC conference in Greensboro.  The goal of the conference, which was hosted by the NC Solar Center, was to raise awareness about ways to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions and greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, which scientists believe is responsible for global warming.

More than 300 people attended the conference to learn about alternative fuels, advanced transportation technologies, fleet procurement policies, refueling options, incentives, and best practices examples.  In addition to the sessions, the attendees were treated to a luncheon keynote address by Dr. Richard Leakey, the world's best-known paleo-anthropologists, who addressed the global challenges created by climate change.
