Mobile CARE (Clean Air
Renewable Energy)
NC Mobile CARE (Clean Air Renewable Energy) is
an initiative to
recognize exemplary efforts to accelerate the use of alternative fuels
and advanced transportation technologies. It’s also an opportunity to
learn what you can do to make your vehicles cleaner and more energy
efficient.
There are three simple steps to becoming a Mobile CARE
partner:
STEP 2: Develop a
plan/strategy to reduce emissions. You can review options with
your local Clean Cities Coalition
or Mobile CARE coordinators if
there’s no coalition in your area.
STEP 3: Earn recognition
for these efforts. Exemplary efforts will be awarded annually. One does
not have to be a Mobile CARE partner to be eligible for recognition.
As a Mobile CARE
partner you can see a real
reduction in emissions and fuel consumption, which can make a
difference on the environment and possibly your pocketbook.
Examples of efforts you can incorporate in your operations:
Reduce fuel use and emissions
through conservation policies and activities - idle reduction policy,
car pooling, sizing vehicles, etc.
Diversify fuel sources by
displacing petroleum with the use of Biofuels and other alternative
fuels.
Employ emission reduction
technologies such as- diesel retrofits, hybrids, CNG retrofits etc.
Develop organization policies
to ensure expanded use of alternative fuels and advanced transportation
technologies to strengthen local economies and improve air quality.
Mobile CARE is also an annual awards initiative to seek out
and recognize individual and organizational efforts at reducing
transportation related emissions through
• expanding educational
opportunities
• conducting outreach
• changing policies
• implementing alternative fuel
and advanced transportation technologies and practicess
