Green Building Custom and Packaged Workshops

The Building Team at the Solar Center provides packaged and custom workshops for building professionals. The packaged workshops provide AIA and RESNET continuing education credit for general contractors, realtors, architects, engineers and energy raters and are focused on residential buildings.

The following is a list of packaged topic workshops currently available:

 

Green Building Basics Series (4 hours each):

Workshop Session Descriptions

Integrated Design & Site Basics
A half-day workshop on integrated design practices and site considerations for residential green building.  This is a good introduction to the broad issues of residential green building and what is happening in NC.
Registration Fee:  $75
Late Registration Fee: $105 (begins 1 week before the 1st session of the month)

Building Envelope & Energy Star Basics
A half-day workshop on building envelope considerations in residential applications, and how the national Energy Star program can enhance implementation (www.energystar.gov).
Registration Fee:  $75

Passive Solar & HVAC Basics
A half-day workshop on passive solar design and HVAC applications in residential green building.
Registration Fee:  $75

Indoor Air Quality & Materials Basics
A half-day workshop on the implementation of indoor air quality and green materials in residential green building.
Registration Fee:  $75

Water & Renewables Basics
A half-day workshop on water conservation considerations and making renewable energy choices in residential green building.
Registration Fee:  $75

NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program Orientation
A half-day introduction to the NC HealthyBuilt Homes (HBH) Program, a statewide residential green building certification program.
Registration Fee:  $50
Late Registration Fee: $80 (begins 1 week before the 1st session of the month)

LEED for Homes Program Orientation
A half-day introduction to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes Program, a national residential green building certification program.
Registration Fee:  $100
Late Registration Fee:  $130 (begins 1 week before the 1st session of the month)
