Targeted Energy Management Surveys – Combined Heat & Power
The NC Solar Center offers on-site assessments to evaluate facilities for the feasibility of implementing Combined Heat & Power (CHP) technologies. CHP, sometimes called cogeneration, refers to technological applications that normally produce either electrical or mechanical power, but are redesigned to recover waste heat for further process use. The use of CHP can provide many advantages to facility operators, including improved efficiency and decreased fuel consumption, lower emissions, and stabilized energy costs.
An on-site assessment helps determine the technical and economic feasibility of incorporating CHP at a facility, as well as recommendations for implementing the system. The findings of the assessment are presented in a report, and include educational material, recommendations for equipment sizing and installation, and an economic feasibility study of the potential systems. The assessment is intended to provide sufficient information to assist in determining the technical and economic feasibility of the proposed project.
