Our Mission
The mission of the Minority Engineering Programs Office is to develop and maintain programs that assist in the recruitment, retention and graduation of African-American, Native American and Hispanic students within the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. Support components include early intervention programs, tutorial programs and counseling with the objective of increasing the number of minority students entering and successfully completing engineering and computer science degrees. The Minority Engineering Programs Office focuses on ensuring a diverse student body.
Our Goals
- To increase underrepresented minority enrollment within the College of Engineering
- To achieve persistence and graduation rates of underrepresented minority students comparable to the general engineering student body
- To become #1 among major colleges in awarding African-American undergraduate engineering degrees
- To achieve engineering student population diversity that reflects both in-state and out-of-state student ratios
