What is matriculation?
Matriculation occurs when you as an undergraduate officially join an academic department as a degree-seeking student. The matriculation process is designed to help undergraduates meet their educational goals.
When can I matriculate?
First-year engineering students are initially accepted into the College of Engineering with an unmatriculated designation. To prepare for matriculation into an academic department, you must complete a prescribed set of courses, which includes English, calculus, chemistry, physics and the introductory engineering courses. Most first-year engineering students are able to successfully complete the required courses and matriculate after their first year.
How do I matriculate?
- Complete the required courses.
- If you are eligible, decide which engineering degree to pursue.
- Select the Proceed button below to begin your application.
Once the College approves your application and issues you a new major code, you can begin to take classes required by your major.
Important Notes:
- If you have already matriculated or are seeking a double major, please contact Dr. Mary Clare Robbins.
- If you wish to matriculate or transfer (from another college at NC State) to Biomedical Engineering, you must also submit an application to the Biomedical Engineering Admissions Committee.
