Degree Requirements

The program is more flexible than regular, on-campus graduate programs because of the need to serve practicing professionals in a variety of environments. Also, since the program is aimed at off-campus students, there is no residency requirement. There is no thesis requirement; however, a student may receive up to 6 credit hours from project work, individual studies, or advanced experiments approved by the advisor and prepared under the direction of a member of the graduate faculty.

Prior to applying to Graduate School, a qualified person may take Engineering Online courses as a PBS (Post-Baccalaureate Studies) student. At least 18 hours of the minimum 30 hours required, must be earned while the student is enrolled in the Master of Engineering graduate status.

Requirements for the degree include completion of 30 credit hours of graduate level courses at the 500, 600 or 700 level and an overall grade-point average of at least 3.0/4.0. Each student must also complete a minimum of three concentration courses from a single field (or five concentration courses from a single field for the concentration to appear on the transcript) at the 500, 600 or 700 level to obtain a Master of Engineering Degree. All requirements for the degree must be completed within six years of enrolling in the first course appearing on the Plan of Graduate Work.
