| The
RAMP-UP Program places N.C. State engineering graduate and undergraduate
students, Shaw University Mathematics and Computer Science students,
and N. C. State education students in local public schools to act as
mathematics, science and technology resources. The program is sponsored
by a grant from the National Science Foundation GK-12 Program. N.C.
State and Shaw students collaborate with teachers to create hands-on
mathematics activities and experiments that will cultivate an excitement
for learning math among the K-12 students. The RAMP-UP Fellows are working
in nine public schools located in Wake County. Our goal is to increase
the number and diversity of kids taking algebra by eighth grade and
calculus by twelfth.
