Tuition, Fees, and Support for Graduate Students
Tuition and fees for North Carolina residents are among the lowest in the nation. Fellowships and assistantships are also available to help defray the expense of graduate school. Applicants for these positions should correspond directly with the department of major interest. All financial aid recipients are selected on merit-based competition with other applicants. However, most fellowships are restricted to US citizens and require GRE scores.
Non-resident graduate students awarded assistantships or fellowships may be eligible for tuition remission comparable to the in-state rate. To be eligible, a student must (a) have a graduate Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or be enrolling at NCSU as a graduate student for the first time, (b) hold a teaching assistantship, a research assistantship, and/or a fellowship, (c) receive a total stipend from all sources of at least $666.67 per month, and (d) be registered for an appropriate course load and making satisfactory progress toward the degree (as determined by the Director of Graduate Programs in the student's department). Further information on tuition remission may be obtained from the student's department.
Graduate students enrolled in the College of Engineering are charged a computer fee of $45/semester, regardless of hours carried. This fee provides access to the Eos engineering computing network.
In summer, graduate students who are not enrolled in summer school but pre-registered for fall semester will continue to have computing privileges all summer at no charge. If enrolled in a summer term, the Eos fee is $15.
