What is the Dean's Circle?
As the College of Engineering’s leadership annual giving program, the Dean's Circle is vital to NC State’s student recruiting strategy. It is unique among annual fundraising efforts in that 100 percent of each donor’s gift goes to support student scholarships and fellowships. Donors have the choice to make their Dean's Circle gift to the College's general recruiting fund, or to designate the gift to support students who intend to matriculate into a specific department.
The College focuses its annual fundraising efforts on student support because we consider providing scholarships and fellowships to our most deserving students as vital to the College’s mission, and therefore a priority need. As North Carolina’s flagship engineering school, the College must continue to attract the very highest-achieving students from within the state, while leveraging our national eminence to bring in great out-of-state students to what is truly a unique environment for engineering education.
The competition for these students is increasingly intense. Many peer engineering schools have an advantage in recruiting students, either due to a larger endowment or to state-funded scholarship programs for their own in-state students that can free up resources used to attract students we would like to recruit to NC State.
As the College continues to grow its endowments to ensure long-term strength, the generosity our alumni and friends extend through annual participation in the Dean’s Circle allows NC State Engineering to put together competitive financial packages for the best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students. We invite you join in our effort to educate the future engineering workforce and the leaders of tomorrow.

Recognition of Dean’s Circle Members
We understand that donors give to support a cause or an institution they believe in and that recognition is not the primary goal. Still, recognition of Dean’s Circle members can spur broader participation. The College of Engineering shows its gratitude to members by recognizing them annually on the NC State Engineering website, inviting them to the annual Leadership Dinner and other special events.
"Without the annual leadership support of our loyal alumni, parents and friends, the College of Engineering at NC State would not be the respected and renowned institution that it is today."
- Dean Louis Martin-Vega
"I give to the College of Engineering because the college gave me such a rich and memorable experience. I know that my Dean’s Circle gift helps ensure that current and future students have as rewarding a time at NC State as I did."
- Frank Culberson, Incoming President, NC State Engineering Foundation Board of Directors
