EEP eTeams

eTeam stands for entrepreneurship team. The term stems from the NCIIA (National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance www.nciia.org) E-Team concept where it means multidisciplinary team – eTeam members can come from any major within NC State University. In addition, each eTeam may have a faculty sponsor that serves as an eTeam mentor.

eTeams are comprised of students taking one of three courses: ECE383, ECE482 or ECE483. ECE483 students are fulfilling their senior capstone design project requirements as setout by the College of Engineering and they organize themselves into eTeam leaders with between 2 and 4 leaders per eTeam. The leaders are responsible for defining their prototype product and startup business and for running the day-to-day operations of their eTeam with the ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of each eTeam rests upon these leaders.

Students enrolled in ECE383 work as eTeam members in capacities commensurate with their skills, abilities and interests. In addition to the ECE483 course, students have the option of completing a two-semester senior capstone design project by previously taking ECE482. This two-semester option affords them the opportunity to more fully explore their ideas by spending the first semester researching, designing and completing a preliminary mockup of their idea, and using the second semester in ECE483 developing the full prototype.

EEP Design Day is held each semester at NCSU in conjunction with traditional ECE Senior Design Day and it is where our eTeams showcase their prototype products and businesses. This event represents the culmination of the students’ education as it calls on them to employ their engineering and entrepreneurial skills in identifying real-world problems and in designing new products and businesses to solve them.

All are invited to this end-of-semester event.
