Announcing the NC State Mobile Web September 03, 2009

After several months of preparation and planning, we're proud to announce the launch of the new NC State Mobile website – a collaborative project encompassing the efforts of groups all across campus.

The NC State mobile presence is a convenient place to find campus news and contacts while on the go.  You can find the closest bus stop and watch a video on NCSU's mobile YouTube channel while you wait!

The new NC State mobile site supports any type of web enabled device from the most basic cell phone to the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry.

No matter where you are, you can get your NC State fix with ease.

We're already at work on improving your mobile NC State experience, too.  Soon, we'll be adding features like maps, dining hall menu information, and sports scores.

Check it out now at m.ncsu.edu from any mobile device!

Eos Software Download Site has been redesigned August 26, 2009

The Eos Software Download site, http://download.eos.ncsu.edu, was redesigned during the summer and boasts a new file server that enables the download of large files.

The Eos Software Download site is available to NCSU faculty, staff, and students. It uses Shibboleth, a web single sign-on package that has been set up to allow logins for users at NC State University and each of the other UNC System universities.

Many of the applications on the download site are available for use on personally-owned machines by NCSU faculty, staff, and students. However, certain applications are restricted to specific populations. When an individual accesses the site, a list of applications will be displayed that are permitted for use by that individual.

NCSU-affiliated individuals may contact eoshelp@ncsu.edu for assistance with questions.

SftpDrive and ExpanDrive available on Eos download site January 27, 2009

The College of Engineering has purchased a campus license for SftpDrive and ExpanDrive, and they are both available to NCSU faculty, staff, and students on the Eos download site at http://download.eos.ncsu.edu/.

SftpDrive runs on Windows XP and Vista, and ExpanDrive runs on Mac OS X 10.4.1 or higher. Both applications allow the secure mapping or creation of local drives that connect via SFTP to AFS file space.  This action allows for the direct opening, editing, and saving of files in AFS space from an individual's personal computer much like they are accustomed to in labs and on office computers.  Full setup and installation instructions are available on the download site at http://download.eos.ncsu.edu/.
