Biomanufacturing has a significant impact on North Carolina's economy. Our state's biotechnology cluster has grown to be the third largest in the country, employing 18,000 people - 4,400 of whom work in biomanufacturing.
North Carolina is also home to one of the largest pharmaceutical clusters in the world, due to the presence of major companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Eisai and DSM. Add the presence of major university research institutions such as NC State University, and it's clear that our state has all the elements to become the global leader in biomanufacturing. BTEC is positioned to align and develop these resources to serve the industry and occupy this leading role in biomanufacturing.
