Tuition, Fees and Support

Tuition and fees for North Carolina residents are among the lowest in the nation. Fellowships and assistantships are also available to help defray the expense of graduate school. Applicants for these positions should correspond directly with the department of major interest. All financial aid recipients are selected on merit-based competition with other applicants. However, most fellowships are restricted to US citizens and require Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.

There is now a search tool available for finding engineering fellowships.

Tuition Remission

Graduate students awarded assistantships or fellowships may also be eligible for tuition remission and coverage of health insurance costs. To be eligible, non-residents must

  1. have a graduate Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or be enrolling at NC State as a graduate student for the first time;
  2. hold a teaching assistantship, a research assistantship and/or a fellowship;
  3. receive a total stipend from all sources of at least $666.67 per month; and
  4. be registered for an appropriate course load and making satisfactory progress toward the degree (as determined by the Director of Graduate Programs in the student's department).

For more information about tuition remission, please contact your department.

Financial Aid

Applicants may request financial aid on the application for admission; there is not a separate financial aid request form. Those who plan to request financial aid are encouraged to submit complete applications well in advance of the admission deadlines.
