BTEC named among top workforce development providers

The Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) on Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University provides a range of training opportunities for industry partners. Now, a website that tracks the training industry has taken notice.

TrainingIndustry.com has named BTEC to its 2013 Top Workforce Development Providers list. Selection to the Top 20 list for workforce development providers was based on the following criteria: industry visibility, innovation and impact; capability to develop and deliver customized corporate training services; depth and breadth of subject matter expertise; organization size and growth potential; quality of clients; and geographic reach.

“This year’s Top 20 represents a top tier of training providers,” said Doug Harward, chief executive officer of TrainingIndustry.com. “These companies leverage their expertise and market awareness to deliver comprehensive training solutions for their clients.”

The largest facility of its kind in the world, BTEC offers undergraduate and graduate students, as well as clients from industry, a place to learn about the latest developments in biomanufacturing while training in a state-of-the-art laboratory.

Between July 2012 and June 2013, the center hosted 201 people in its 19 professional development courses. BTEC trains representatives of the US Food and Drug Administration and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, which is within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the US Department of Health and Human Services.
