Seminar Fee:
$300 US for SMiRT 16 participants, others add $50 US. Registration after June 30, add $50 US to the above costs. The fee includes attendance at the seminar and delivery of the seminar proceedings.

Topic 1 - Safety margins of actual containment’s for design basis accidents
Topic 2 - Capacity of containment’s systems to withstand severe accidents: hydrogen explosion; lower head failure of reactor pressure vessel; ejection and dispersion of core melt; direct containment heating
Topic 3 - Evaluation of large scale containment tests; design improvements; aging effect of sensitive components
The seminar lectures will be presented by speakers familiar with the recent research activities. Intensive discussion is encouraged. For the essential questions a round table discussion will be arranged. Some interesting findings will be presented.

An optional tour of Sandia National Laboratories will be held on Tuesday afternoon (2:30 – 5:00 p.m.). The tour will begin after the seminar, however prior clearance must be obtained for entrance. Please contact Rolf Krieg or Phillip Pfeiffer or Michael Hessheimer for the information needed to access the Lab. (Please contact one of them before July 1, 2001).
