16th International Conference on
Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology

Thomas A. Jaeger Prize

The Thomas A. Jaeger Prize honors the legacy of Professor Thomas A. Jaeger, who founded the SMiRT Conference.  Its purpose is to encourage and stimulate basic research on structural mechanics in reactor technology.  The prize is comprised of a certificate and a cash award of US $2,000 to be divided equally among multiple authors.

If all authors of a manuscript were less than 40 years of age on the last day of SMiRT 16 (August 17, 2001), it would be eligible for consideration for the Thomas A. Jaeger Prize.  The prize is comprised of a certificate and a cash award of US $2,000 to be divided equally among multiple authors. The winners will receive the award at SMiRT 17 to be held in Prague August 2003.

To be considered for the Jaeger Prize, authors should send expanded versions of their SMiRT 16 papers to:

Professor Vernon C. Matzen
North Carolina State University
414 Mann Hall (Express Deliveries)
Campus Box 7908 (Postal Deliveries)
Raleigh, NC  27695-7908

Manuscripts must be received by February 12, 2002.  The age requirement and deadline of submission are absolute to be eligible for the Jaeger Prize.   Please do not ask for waiver or extension because it is not discretionary on our part.  The prize will be awarded at SMiRT 17 to be held in the Czech Republic in 2003.
